Terms & Conditions 2011 (Download PDF)

  1. Registration and confirmation procedure
    1. SSILS registration forms can be obtained on our website at www.ssils.com/register-online. Registration forms should be submitted directly on-line. On receipt of a student’s registration form, the student will be sent a written confirmation of course booking with an invoice for the total amount of the course and, if applicable, any additional fees. Upon receipt of payment of fees the student will be sent a visa support letter if required.
  2. Fees
    1. Fees should be paid upon receipt of invoice. Quotes and invoices are valid for 30 days once received by the student.
    2. Fees are not transferable to another institution, a later time or to another student.
    3. All information and fees are valid when invoiced. SSILS reserves the right to change fees for students who have not received an official invoice or for students.
    4. Disbursements incurred by SSILS including government processing fees, courier of study/work permit packages, photocopies, etc., will be billed to the student at a later date.
  3. Cancellations and Refunds
    1. If the student withdraws before the visa support letter is issued then the student may withdraw from the start of the course and receive a refund of fees.   A $250 administration fee from the total course fees will be deducted from the refund.
    2. A total refund less $480 administrative fee, courier fees and bank transfer charges are due when we receive a written evidence of visa refusal prior to the start of the course. The student is eligible for the refund in this case provided the refusal is not for misrepresentation, not following instructions or criminal issues in which case the full fees are due.
    3. In the case of co-op program students; if a student withdraws from the program after commencement but before 12 weeks as a result of not securing co-op work opportunity, which forms an integral part of the course curriculum, and they return to their home country, providing evidence of their return, a refund of 75% of the course fees will be reimbursed.
    4. No refunds will be granted if a student is dismissed, is issued a removal order or is deported.
    5. After issue of visa support letter and/or commencement of the course, refunds will only be granted in extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the program director.
  4. Minimum Age
    1. The minimum age for acceptance at SSILS is age 18. SSILS schools cannot accept any registrations without the student’s signature and the student must be 18 at the time of booking.
  5. Removal
    1. SSILS reserves the right to expel any student whose conduct is unsatisfactory at the discretion of the Program Director. All fees are due in full.
    2. In the case of expulsion or removal, permitting will no longer be valid and CIC will enter the students’ information into their data base making future immigration permitting for Canada difficult for the fraudulent student to achieve.
  6. Non-Compliance with Study Requirement
    1. Repeated failure to comply with study requirements will result in written warning.
    2. Students who register in the co-op program as a means to enter Canada without the intention of studying or who decide to work without completing the study portion of the program will have their co-op permit cancelled and Citizenship and Immigration Canada will be updated by the school immediately. In this case the permitting will no longer be valid and CIC will enter the students’ information into their data base making future immigration permitting for Canada difficult for the fraudulent student to achieve. CIC is under recent pressure to ensure co-op students are conducting themselves per the terms of their school’s curriculum. Depending on the circumstances of the student’s violation of their agreement with SSILS, Canada Border Service Agency’s Inland Enforcement Office may be provided the student’s information to affect removal.
    3. Fees are due in full for non-compliance with study requirements.
  7. Liability and Insurance
    1. All students are strongly advised to take out personal, medical and property insurance before travelling abroad. SSILS, its Representatives, and staff will not be liable for any loss, damages, and illness or injuries to people or property; however these may occur, unless such liability is legally imposed. It is the student’s responsibility to take out insurance against all such risks.
  8. Resolution and Disputes
    1. Any complaint should be made to the Program Director of the appropriate SSILS Center.
