Beginning June 2010, SSILS is now offering a variety of Test Preparation Programs that will help our students be successful with the language proficiency exam they chose to take.
SSILS is now offering English and French Test Preparation Programs to assist students for the most common internationally recognized assessment tests; TOEFL, TOEIC and TFI. The courses will cover important language points and skills drawn from materials relating to the three tests. Students will also work on test-taking strategies including full-length practice exams with our teachers that will help to build confidence in preparing for the exams. Focus will be on improving reading, writing, speaking, structure, and listening to match the specifications of these tests.
The SSILS Test Preparation Programs offer a thorough study of all aspects of the language, together with focused preparation for the examination. Our staff and teachers will be happy to advise you which examination is most suitable for you, depending on your goals.

TOEFL®
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an important international exam and is recognized around the world. TOEFL evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. Many English-speaking universities and colleges have a specific TOEFL score as the entry requirement to their institution.
SSILS prepares for the internet-based TOEFL exam (TOEFL iBT). Students that require TOEFL scores for entry into countless institutions here and abroad will need to demonstrate a high level of English language and academic skills, as tested by TOEFL iBT. The SSILS Test Preparation Program will help students to achieve higher levels in their English reading, listening, speaking and writing. We use many activities that help students feel comfortable understanding and discussing a variety of topics in English with their peers.
TOEIC®
TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is an English language test designed specifically to measure the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment. Many of our students use the TOEIC score on their resume to prove to employers their English ability.
The SSILS Test Preparation Program uses an interactive approach that focuses on building range, understanding language use, and awareness of key test-taking strategies needed to succeed on the test and in their job. We focus on both TOEIC packages; Speaking and Writing Tests and Listening and Reading Tests.
TFI®
The Test de français international evaluates the French language proficiency of non-native speakers of French. The TFI test will assess the student’s French language ability as it is generally used in the international workplace. The SSILS Test Preparation Program will focus on improving the student’s ability to understand, speak, read and write in French.
